Hot Rod Triumph

Here is a new project that started out as a 2005 Triumph Boneville America with only 5000 miles on it. Ricky wanted something different, so we blended the Triumph styling cues with an old school and pro-street look.

We started by stripping the Boneville down to just the frame and engine. Then we set it on the frame table and used the old frame to align the centerline of the engine, the final ride height, and define the rake and stretch.

Then we started bending tubing for a single front down tube, double cradle, swing arm softail-style frame with a 42 degree rake, 4 up and 5 out.

With the frame pretty much done, we mounted the Redneck springer and wire wheels and started fabricating the sheet metal.

The final assembly before teardown includes a stretched stock gas tank from the Boneville so that the signature side panels and the logos remain. Also fabbed was a custom battery and electronics box that holds all the electronics in the swing arm, special air scoops for the carbs, a front wheel hugging floating fender mount/brake anchor, one-off exhaust system, seat, and loads of other details.

It has the long, low and hot rod look that Ricky wanted with a soft ride to boot. It has a tough, good looking blue and silver powder coat on all the painted parts.

These two photos show the frame construction. The swing arm pivots on softail style bearings in the location of the Triumph swing arm. The chain drive was replaced with a specially fabricated engine sprocket and a modified cover. The electrics are housed in the silver box which was also formed to fit the swingarm.
